Description
This could be a scene from any Nordic country but in this case, it's Iceland. I painted the deserted, atmospheric beach to create mood. I wanted this to be romantic and a bit exotic and the black sands and foggy atmosphere capture that. The teenager and her pony are joyfully experiencing the ocean breeze and cool salt air. I wanted to express a sense of freedom and to infer the close relationship between the pony and the girl. There is still a hint of morning fog and I can just hear the gulls and breaking waves. Of course, the viewer is free to imagine any story the image evokes for them. This painting is 16 x 20, oil on canvas and is placed in a floating frame.
