I was drawn to this scene because of the beauty of the three white horses and the graceful composition their forms created. The rushing river contrasts against their peaceful demeanor and solid forms. The water is fluid and makes its own lovely lines and patterns. This original oil painting is done on 16 x 12" mounted artboard and is currently for sale at the Pittsboro Gallery of Arts, Pittsboro, NC.
A shaft of morning sunlight through the trees after a stormy evening, the tranquility of cows grazing in a pasture, rapids sparkling with light on a particularly clear day, these are examples of everyday things that inspire me to paint. Beauty makes us glad to be alive and I want to celebrate and share that joy through painting. Beauty is not always found in the obvious or in dramatic scenes.
