Artist's Description
Chapel Creek runs beside our property in Chatham County, NC and varies in appearance everyday! I especially love seeing it surrounded by snow on a peaceful winter's day. This was a new way of using oil pastel for me in several ways; this a larger piece than I usually do and it's done on board that I primed with a dark blue medium made especially for pastels. The texture and color of the board shows through in areas and made it an interesting piece to work on. The original art is for sale and includes framing. Please contact me with any questions.

A shaft of morning sunlight through the trees after a stormy evening, the tranquility of cows grazing in a pasture, rapids sparkling with light on a particularly clear day, these are examples of everyday things that inspire me to paint. Beauty makes us glad to be alive and I want to celebrate and share that joy through painting. Beauty is not always found in the obvious or in dramatic scenes. As I progress as an artist, I become increasingly aware of beauty found in unexpected and ordinary places. Art is an exploratory process.
