I saw these two calves while I was out riding in the Chatham county, NC countryside. I stopped to take their picture as they stood in the pasture. They were shy yet curious and very sweet. While still calves, they were on the verge of adolescence and it was nice to capture them in this in between stage. The original painting is done in acrylic and has lots of 3 dimensional texture. Beauty makes us glad to be alive and I want to celebrate and share that joy through painting. Beauty is not always found in the obvious or in dramatic scenes. As I progress as an artist, I become increasingly aware of beauty found in unexpected and ordinary places. Art is an exploratory process.
